What a great day! Hiked to "Twin Falls" in Pisgah Forest... about 6 miles, I think, from the horse stables, up the forest road, then up Buckhorn Trail and Twin Falls Trail. Lots of wood violets, trout lily, bluets, and a few bloodroots. Looking forward to lady slippers, dwarf iris, and wild geranium.I love spring wildflowers! The hike went beside/across/through Avery Creek, a beautiful stream with lots of cascades the whole way. Lots of log river crossings. At the top, there were three falls, Twin Falls in the center, and two others, one on either side. Can't believe I've lived here 30 years and never heard about it before! I feel so fortunate to live in such a beautiful place. Can't wait til spring break. It was a great day, blue skies, 70+ degrees, light wind. Listening to the weather forecast now, possibility of snow Tuesday...yuck! Bring spring on! The only problem is that I caved to the post -hike beer, and now I'm starving!
