I tried the Okinawa way of eating (mostly). I didn't lose a single pound the first week. To be honest, I really didn't care (which is a bit unusual for me because I like to see "measurable" growth).
The most amazing thing started happening to my body. I swear that I could feel it "reconfiguring" itself. Words fail me in trying to describe the feeling of transformation. My skin feels tighter all over. I can feel my muscle fibers. From my face down to my rib cage, I got thinner. No luck around the waist...yet. My feet and calves, which I hate to say are a bit "chunky" actually felt and even looked thinner.
I might have never noticed my greatest improvement if I had not visited my 9 year old nephew and 5 year old niece in Houston this past weekend. I'm 40 and weigh way more than I should. BUT...I was able to run around full speed barefooted chasing my nephew and niece.
First of all, walking around barefooted can be painful when you're overweight. Second of all, I normally get winded. Neither happened. I felt 16 years old again...playing tag barefooted and fancy free.
So, I wouldn't mind losing a pound or two this week as well as keeping up the energy. Just wanted to let all you know that the Okinawa Way feels goooood!
