Doctors, Prescriptions, and a Two Year Old....OH MY!!!

Tuesday, March 31, 2009

As I was fed up with everyone (my oldest started showing symptoms on Sat.) being sick, I took both girls to visit their pediatrician; two hours later and a quick stop by the pharmacy, I considered the problem resolved: my oldest daughter (age 10 yrs) was diagnosed with an ear infection and allergy related issues; my youngest daughter (age 2 yrs) was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection and wheezing...but my two year old had other plans! She had a massive melt-down when it came to her medication--you wouldn't believe the drama involved during a simple breathing treatment!!! ENOUGH SAID. emoticon

My husband was sleeping (he works nights), my oldest was out of school (student holiday), and the girls appointment(s) were within minutes of mine, we went to my much anticipated doctor's appointment! emoticon The girls behaved well (they didn't "kick off" til we were home!), but I'd have preferred to leave them with a sitter; it's hard to discuss medical concerns with children present--they understand more than we give them credit! I must say, I don't feel like much was accomplished: the doctor made a mammogram referral (feels biopsy will follow); refilled current meds; stated blood work within normal range (with exception of cholesterol), thus starting on medication (50 points higher than the norm); gave "cold/flu" medication; and suggested relaxation~she feels my "misc. issues" are due to too much stress.

So this was my day...I'll keep everyone posted as I find out more information and hopefully things will return to normal soon! As always, thanks for your support~I was rendered speechless after reading the countless words of encouragement in response to my last blog : )

Two-year-olds always have other plans than the rest of the family (/world), don't they? Reminds me of my mantra when mine were two: "it's just a phase...... it's just a phase" ;)

Glad to hear you had the first doctor-step. Can the mammogram be scheduled reasonably soon?

Ahhhhh the life of a mom! I feel you sistah! Had many days like that. You need to put them in bed tonight and take a nice long hot bubble bath and read a favorite book or magazine. You need me time. I hope everyone is feeling better real soon. Hang in there! I will be praying for good results for you. Let us know.

Sure hope all goes well with all the test.. At least they waited to get home before the meltdown.

am slightly evil!. One time we were in the middle of the grocery store with hubby behaving like a 3 yr old & 2 kids 4 & 5. I just finally gave up looked at them. Spoke to my husband in a really loud voice & said " I wish you and ur first wife had taught these kids a few manners"! I left the store. LOL Only way I could escape

Wow you have your hands full. I remember what that was lik. My two boys are teenagers now, and life is a little more relaxed. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
