Well, I had all good intentions to stick to everything today.......only managed to get the 8 cups of water in (actually, 9 cups). No exercise today, which really frustrated me, since Sunday was my scheduled rest day and I was actually looking forward to hitting the state park's nature trail on such a beautiful day today! Just didn't work out the way I wanted it to. This morning before I left for work, I had scheduled "me" time for 4:00 this afternoon. All through the day, I was super busy with one thing or another, but still planning on leaving at 4:00 for "my" appointment. Then, at 3:00 I had a work "emergency" that caused me to have to drop everything and drive to another office about 1/2 hour away. By the time I returned, it was close to 4:30. Then, I had to finish the work I had before the "emergency" hit, so I never left the office until 6:30! Ah, my work life seems so out of control some days, and I'm especially noticing it now when I want to improve my health! On my way home, I ALMOST consoled myself (as I have done so many times before!) with a Wendy's burger and fries......BUT thankfully, my conscience wouldn't let me! When I made it to the drive thru, I actually started calculating the loaded calories in my head, and went right back out and headed to the nearest Subway instead! To me, those are small baby steps that just a week or two ago, I would not have done. And I'm happy about all the extra calories I saved by choosing Subway over a thick (greasy!) burger and fries! AND, I didn't eat the whole footlong! I only ate half and gave my hubby the other half - another small step in the right direction. My daughter and her hubby were waiting at our house when I arrived and visited til after 10:30, so I still didn't get my exercise in today. Although I was disappointed that I couldn't schedule my day to fit in the exercise, I am still patting myself on the back for not giving in to an emotional eating pattern that I'm so used to doing when things don't go as smoothly as planned. SO, tomorrow - I've scheduled another "me" appointment. This time, an early morning wake up call at 6:30am to hit the treadmill BEFORE I head out the door for what could be another (unavoidable) hectic work day!
