women's lib = fat chicks!!

you've come a long way baby.........

duh-- i just got hit with this realization!!

i grew up in the whole women's lib era.......and wow, we sure did it- we work everywhere- i work in a mainly male field........we can cuss like sailors..........wear jeans...... drink like a fish.........etc, etc......

well, i sure wish those women's lib pioneers who fought so hard for all of us had said- yes- you can do anything a man can do-- EXCEPT EAT!!!

this is what finally hit me upside the head- hearing the calories allowed for BL contestants- the women are about 1100, the guys are 3400!! wow.........i'm pretty sure they're working out about the same amound of time every day-- that's 1/3 for the women!! well- let me tell you- i eat man size portions! i have huge portion issues, not to mention being a very good member of the clean plate club!

i've never been in a restaurant that has a man's menu, and a woman's-- and i sure can eat the whole portion of whatever-- not just 1 third!! and plates at home-- you couldn't tell if it were a guys plate or a chicks-- equality means equal portions, right??

sheesh, this has given me a whole new way of looking at what i eat, and how much!

i sure don't like it!!........

in my next life- i do want to be a guy- with a great metabolism-- can you imagine eating 3000 calories a day and LOSING weight???

sounds like heaven to me!!

I know what you mean, Jewells. My partner, who does most of the cooking, fills my plate as full as his--and I don't stop him often enough. It's fine when he makes mostly veggies, but sometimes we have burritos or something that I should have half a serving of. Tsk, tsk on me.

On another note, I do applaud you for sticking it out in your man's world work. Congratulations, again.

    Take care,

Did you ever see that floating email about the cow who was trying to eat grass on the other side of the fence? Poor girl got her head stuck right under that fence...of course the next picture says not everyone who comes to your rescue is really there to help and it shows a bull mounting the stuck cow....ok that has nothing to do with what I was aiming for but basically....enjoy the grass on your side of the fence....the other side may look sweeter but it aint worth the effort to find out. :)

Hey Jewells, I know exactly what you are talking about. There are some exceptions. My Hubby, yeah He really doesn't eat much more than I, and he is about 9 months pregnant. Yeah you know what I'm saying. It's about unhealthy choices for him. That is another reason for me to get things under control. For him and my kids. I still have two at home. And my 18 year old (the one with sexual assault history), her eating is so screwed up. She only likes a few foods, and they are all unhealthy.

I'm not sure what happened. When I first started having kids, I was so good with them. Dessert was applesauce (no sugar of course). Stuff like that. Now that is all down the toilet. :( Well lt's never too late to do things better. We can both do this.

At times where I have had success, my body required less food. I think it is a matter of teaching our tummies that they don't need that much food. This is the month where we can make a few changes to healthier living. You can do it!!!!! We can do this together!!!! Keep in touch, and we can support each other. Hugs barb

My husband can eat "allot" more than me and still look trim. We both started out as skinny teens and from talking to him he ate allot too and never gained weight. I have to laugh because he buys the hungry man dinners when they are on sale to take to work and he also buys boston market when they are on sale. He can eat a thin crust pizza in a sitting followed with a bowl of ice cream. He is always on his feet at work - so I figure his body always in motion has something to do with it - whereas I sit all day and excise at night.

My stuff in the freezer was always lean cuisine or healthy choice hovering somewhere around 300 calories.

    Go figure?

You are right it does not seem fair

    Hi Jewels!
You have hit the nail on the head. Does not seem fair that men lose weight easier and eat more. If I did that, I would be twice the size and I'm big enough now as it is.

Love your blog, and i sure need the laughs.
    Take care

I also am a throwback to those hippie days!! Back in those days I probably did eat about 3000 calories and still wore a size 6!!! Now I cannot even imagine how much I would weigh if I ate those calories. Nice to think about how great it would be eat all of that though and NOT gain weight.

Hilarious, but so true! I too, am one of those "former" man size portion eaters. Not anymore tho. I have learned to scale back on my portions, but I freely admit that even today I still have a very robust appetite. Mine is all about choosing filling, more satisfying foods, so I can have "more bang for my buck".

I could sure identify tho, cause I am a yuppie and throwback from those "hippie days".

It's not fair, it's not fair, it's not fair (she screams as she's pounding her fists on her desk)! I want to be able to eat like a man and still lose weight!! I want to be able to eat over 3,000 calories a day and still drop huge amounts of weight every week!! What are we going to do about this? Is a march on Washington in order? We could burn our bras (oh wait, that's already been done). I just can't think of a solution. Darn it...I guess I'm just going to have to settle for my measly 1200-1600 calories a day. Life can be so unfair!

Oh my goodness! I can't even imagine. That's remarkable. Guess we haven't come as far as we thought we'd come.
