I tried Hot Bikram Yoga last night for the first time. Basically, you are in a 106 degree room for an hour and half. You do 2 breathing exercises and 26 yoga positions. I've never done any kind of yoga so I had to adjust to the yoga itself and the heat. I was looking for something to help me manage my stress, which causes a lot of tension in my back between my shoulder blades. I found that for the most part all of my focus was on the positions themselves -- I didn't have time to think about how hot is was or what I needed to do at work or whatever. My heart was definitely up, I burned a lot of calories, and I certainly got sweaty (seriously, buckets and buckets of sweat) but somehow it was completely relaxing too. Definitely unlike any other workout I've ever done and I was really looking for a way to change things up. When I was finished all I wanted to do was take a shower and crawl into bed. Usually after I workout I'm all jazzed up for a few hours, but not this time. Bottom line, I really enjoyed it and I can't wait to go back!
