My Happy Weight!

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Today in the Weekly Link Roundup: What's Hot? What's New? by Stepfanie Romine there was a link to The Happy Weight Calculator from Self.

"We all have an "ideal" weight in our mind, but what must you sacrifice to get there. This fun calculator helps you determine a goal weight that will allow you to be happy and healthy! "

I thought it would be fun to see where I am in my happy weight so I followed the link and looked around. One link of particular interest to me showed me that indeed I do have a large frame as I was told when I was about 15 years old! Simple test, tape measure your wrist and check the chart for your height. I did both wrists and was surprised they are the same! BTW, you can put in half inches for height, ie: 5' 1.5" is what I entered.

My "happy weight" would be 129.1 which made me chuckle since I am 131.1 today and have been stuck in the 131's for about 3 weeks now. So near and yet so far. But not one to be complacent, I also followed the link for Ideal Weight Range and that was 100-134 so the median weight would still be in the 120's.

I just wanted to share the info with anyone that misses the Daily Spark Blog. It made me happy to learn I am this close to my "happy weight" finally! Never dreamed it was even possible and here I am just a few pounds away!

great article! i read in a book once that your body is happy at a certain weight so if it's easy for you to be at 135 maybe that's better then struggling to stay at 130. thanks for sharing!

I followed the link and found that my target weight is 8 lbs under my happy weight. It is however in my weight range near the bottom, so we'll see what happens. What I found most interesting is the number of calories I need per day. 3300. I have set my own calorie range at 1450 to 1700 . OOPS!!! I guess I should go back to basics and let sparks determin my calorie range. No wonder I have such a hard time losing. ( That and the candy monster LOL)

Thanks for sharing that with us today! I'm going to check it out now!

I'm very happy with those results - now if I can only acheive them one day!

My happy weight is 163 - which before I started my weight gain I was 166 and I was VERY happy then! LOL My range would be 125-169.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. My wrist was 7 inches. Definitely large boned. But, when we lose weight won't that measurement go down? I'd still be in the big-boned range, though. It wouldn't go down a whole inch. My watch is loose on my arm, however.

My range was 111 - 150, happy weight was 143. I'm still shooting for 125, but will take a close assessment of my health and fitness and body fat at 150 to see where I want to go (how LOW should you GO).

I distinctly remember weighing 104, and being pudgy. And I was taller then. So I think 111 is not unreasonable, even tho many people tell me no way could I go down to 125 and be healthy. That's just because they've never seen me anyway but fat, ha ha.

125 is the goal I'm keeping until I get much, much closer. 315 to 125 is 190lbs to lose, and so far I've lost 32. So it will be a long while before I have the problem you have of being right on the doorstep; but I'm looking forward to that day! Also looking forward to hearing all about maintaining from you & Marty & others, you'll be maintaining for a long time while I'm still losing, so I can learn from you all that are ahead of me.

Thanks for sharing this with us. I was happy when I saw the link to figure your frame size. I had just asked DH what he thought, lo and behold he was correct...medium. My goal weight is close to my happy weight. One day I will be doing the happy dance for both of us.
