New goals - move more, eat less sugar!

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Spring is coming - yes, sure, there's snow outside, but it's coming, right? :) And it's time for new goals for me! I want to move away from focusing on the scale - back to thinking about health! I'm doing just fine on getting in the Self Challenge strength moves and I can feel the difference. Time to ramp it up.

Less Sugar

That candy bowl sings to me like a siren to Odysseus. Too bad I don't have crewmen to tie me to the mast :) So I will have to do it myself! No candy from the bowl. It's too tempting and free. I can have 150 calories of sweet treats a day. And honestly, would I want that treat to be cheap candy, when I could have some awesome slow churned ice cream or something like that instead? Often what I really want is an energy burst (yay, no sleep due to teething!), so I should instead move around to get the blood moving. So, 150 to start off with - then maybe we can get that down more!

Move More

Daylight savings time means more sunshine after work! I commit to going for a walk at least twice during the week. If that really doesn't work, I will try doing jumping jacks, squats, or whatever.

More Veggies!

I love my veggies and I know they love me back - just have to make the time to incorporate more! I need those nutrients, darn it!

Those sound like good goals, and nice job on doing the self challenge - I'm sure you'll start seeing the difference!

So - what happened to celebrating reaching your goal! Pat yourself on the back, do a happy dance, buy yourself a new pair of shoes! Woo hoo! Maybe a spa day?

; )

I'm glad to hear the Self Challenge strength training moves are working for you. Unfortunately, I have to admit that they've done absolutely nothing for me. I developed my own strength training plan through Spark though so it's not like I'm not strength training...because I definitely need it!

I'm right on with you as far as sugar and veggies goes. I'm not so much having a problem with sugar in regards to candy or desserts, because, suprisingly, I haven't have one candy bar since the beginning of the year and barely any dessert. I'm just not craving it since I started eating healthier. My problem with sugar is when it's hidden in some of the foods I'm eating. And with veggies, I barely eat them and it makes me so ashamed. I love veggies, but just forget to make some with dinner at times! All things I'm focusing on though!
