A Letter of Forgiveness

Friday, February 20, 2009

This is from my blog but I thought I'd post it here too. I fell off the wagon the last two weeks. I'm choosing to pick myself up and move on. But before I move on I'm offering myself forgiveness.

Dear Me,

I forgive for your lack of self-control. I forgive you for seeking comfort from food despite knowing the disappoint you will feel as soon as you swallow that last bite. I will forgive you for seeking instant gratification through a plate of nachos. I forgive you for your short sightedness. For failing to see the big picture and instead only seeking to fulfill your desires of the moment. I will do my best to see you in light of your purpose and potential given to you by God and I will nourish you accordingly. I will nourish you not because you want to stay in your "skinny" jeans (well maybe a little) but because I care about your mental and spiritual well being.

Your friend,

Your letter made me think that maybe I should stop punishing myself for my slip ups and forgive myself too, so I can move on. Thank you.

Just reading your blog today about self-forgiveness. I think that's important. I like the letter to self idea after a "bad" day. Here's to better choices for all of us!

Thanks for the comments. Yes I do have a second show on the horizon. I'm planning on doing a show June 27th. I've pretty much gotten back on the wagon. Although I've been sick so it's been easier...ha!!!!

Rovershi - Yeah I like the the strict confines of a competition diet too. It really makes it easier. Adjusting between the two took me a few weeks. I felt like I went a little crazy too!!!

Do you have a second show on the horizon? Maybe if you had another goal date to strive for you'd be more consistent with your diet!!!

Youe abs were fantastic for your show! Do let them SHINE again! :)

Thanks for sharing! It's amazing how easy it is to get caught up in the moment and then feel SOOOO guilty! Did you find that after your comp. you struggled more with over-indulging? I definitely did - I feel like I went a little crazy at times. Now I'm 12 weeks out from next comp. and it almost feels better to have that kind of external pressure / motivator / "rules to follow"....I don't know. I don't know. It's all a bit odd. Are you competing again?
