Since today is Valentine's Day, I took some time for myself (plus I've been to the dentist and have aching teeth). So, while I was all cuddly and warm in my bed for an afternoon nap I thought of a favorite book where the character is with her lover talking about what "luxuries" are. Like the character in the book, luxuries to me are not necessarily material things. I thought of a few before I went to sleep and decided to list some here. (In no particular order).
Laying in the sunshine coming through a window on a winter's day.
Waking up to the sound of cow bells through a window. (I was lucky enough to visit Europe in college--it has still stuck with me all this time).
The pale green light underneath a plant in the sun.
The echoes of coyotes howling in the night.
Certain music that gives you a shiver when you listen to it.
Artwork that captivates you not because it is famous or valuable but because you make a connection with the artist and what they're trying to express.
The best of books that make you want to know even more of the characters because they seem so real.
Friends out around a fire.
The awe of meteor showers.
Fragrance of a garden as well as the visual effect....when it makes time seem to disappear.
Hiking with your loved ones and stopping for a spectacular view.
There...not a mention of food...although I could!
