What a Faithful God

Saturday, January 31, 2009

Times are tough. Prices are rising, yet the income isn't necessarily increasing. Being a missionary means being dependent - and sometimes I forget who is the true source of my daily bread. Was it the brook providing Elijah with water and the ravens with bread and meat? NO. Was it the widow who kept flour in the barrel and oil in the jar? NO.

Warren Wiersbe: "The drought had three more years to go, and God took care of His faithful servant. During that time of 'retirement', God led him, fed him, and enabled him to help others, including a gentile widow. When we walk by faith, God supplies our needs and opens doors of opportunity for us. Be sure to trust the Provider and not the provision. Brooks dry up, but God never fails."

Lord, I come before Your throne of grace;
I find rest in Your presence, and fullness of joy.
In worship and wonder I behold Your face,
Singing what a faithful God have I.

What a faithful God have I,
What a faithful God.
What a faithful God have I,
Faithful in every way.

Lord of mercy, You have heard my cry;
Through the storm You're the beacon,
My song in the night.
In the shelter of Your wings, hear my heart's reply,
Singing what a faithful God have I.

Lord all sovereign, granting peace from heaven,
Let me comfort those who suffer
With the comfort You have given.
I will tell of Your great love for as long as I live,
Singing what a faithful God have I.

What a faithful God have I,
What a faithful God.
What a faithful God have I,
Faithful in every way.
(song by Robert & Dawn Critchley)

    We are experiencing the same thing but God spoke to us and said that our neighbours are going through hard times and that we can identify better with what they face by have to tighten our belts to. This is not to detract from His faithfulness which has been our experience all the way but has helped us to have a better perspective

    Thank you for sharing that... a year and a half ago! It is even more meaningful now! Truly our God is AWESOME, and SO FAITHFUL to provide for our every need. I loved the song too... now heading off to see if I can hear it!
    P.S. couldn't hear it here, but listened to it on youtube. Thanks for sharing!
