I love reading food blogs. My fave is probably thekitchn. At the close of 2008 I was reading some blogs and it seemed like bacon was one of the hot trends of 2008, and I figured it would be left there. Well it looks like bacon is running strong in 2009 and I can't help but laughing. Has anyone seen the bacon weave for foods? If not let me help you out.
Yep, you seriously basket weave bacon and wrap the food you are cooking in it.
Here is the article on the bacon explosion and recipe from the New York Times:

Another one that got me last year was the bacon cheese wrap. Yep, a bacon basket weave around a pile of melted cheese.
I remember going to the first MLS Galaxy game in Los Angeles and coming out of the game to illegal food vendors selling hot dogs wrapped in bacon and grilling them at the exits. I passed but thought the concept was funny. A number of years later I split one of those covered in grilled peppers and onions with a friend after a night of clubbing and drinking and I felt that was extreme bacon for me. Great for two wasted chicks, but not usual eating faire.
The latest bacon weaving trend is too much for me and I hope those of you watching your calories manage to steer clear with the Super Bowl this sunday. If not I hope you enjoy the heck out of it if it goes past your lips. Me, I will still be laughing at the extreme bacon trend.
Oh yeah. I also added an inspiration pic to my sparkpage to help me get down to 150. Bacon Explosions will not help me do that.
