As you may or may not know I've decided to make it a personal goal to run a half marathon in the spring of 2010. I'm just starting out running a mile but I think I'm getting the hang of it, my lungs don't feel like their going to explode and my heart isn't beating out of my chest, and I've been working on finding my pace and relaxing my arms to my shoulders don't get so cramped up. I haven't really researched the proper way to long distance run yet but I will do that.
I'm really proud of myself, yesterday I ran a mile consistently than walked half a mile and ran another half mile without stopping!!!! I did a total of 4 miles yesterday and did some resistance training with bands and a ball, I'm not looking to bulk up at all I want to look smooth and streamline:)
Today I didn't have time to do 4 miles so I did 2 not bad, I ran a mile in 13:06 seconds that's 54 seconds less than my original time. Slow and steady will win the race here:) My goal is to slowly shave time and increase my distance, I'm not looking to run a mile in 7 minutes or anything just find a nice pace and push myself for distance.
Someone commented on my previous blog and gave me the idea to think in .25 mile increments when running distance, I've done that and it's really been helping me to push just a little further and a little further, I'm really excited and I just know this has been great for my overall energy, health, and positive attitude.
I tell you what getting married and running my own business is not an easy task to take on at the same time and the stress level is not condusive to weight loss but I've been really smart and consistent about it and exercising has really helped me maintain focus and keep my energy level up, plus when you exercise you don't want to undo all your hard work by eating junk so it really has helped me make healthier choices!
