Isn't the little birdy cute? Keep your eyes on him for a litle while. He's not going to do anything, I just thought he might take your mind off the snow and ice for a few seconds.
My purpose for this blog is to ask: AM I THE ONLY PERSON HERE WHO'S SICK OF WINTER??? This season really messes with me! I want to sleep, feel lazy and without realizing it until I joined Spark my cravings for carbs increases. I have to imagine there's no such thing as Frito~Lays when I'm in the store!
However, I digress...
I know some at Spark have been nearly frozen and snowed in since before Christmas and I commend you on bearing with your weather, for desiring to continue living happily where you are, and for all those terrific cardio points you've racked up snow skiing, ice skating, shoveling snow and walking in it. Me-I'd be hibernating like Yogi just waiting for spring picnic baskets!
Just for a few moments I thought I'd give you something to look forward too. Close your eyes and imagine:
Green trees, birds singing, flowers in bloom, pretty little girls dressed in pastels, light weight clothing, sandals, a spring-cleaned smell of freshness and comfortable outdoor exercise.
I give you 2 dates to remember as we wait patiently
March 8-Daylight Savings Time Begins
March 20- First Day of Spring
Every time you have to shovel snow, scrape ice and snow from you car or put on snow boots to venture out say this word: "RENOUVELLEMENT"(reh-nu-vel-ma
whn). For those who don't know French it means "renewal, revival, renovation". That's what we have to look forward to in Spring! If your spirit is sagging, your fitness minutes reflect your child's age and you're thisclose to giving up on Spark say that word to yourself and don't forget that those feelings can and will pass!
Some here like me need the freshness and newness of spring to renew our motivation and committment to our lifestyle change. We've depended on motivation from Spark articles, our team mates and our own desire to reach our goals. Some like me have fought with and pushed ourselves through winter. But Spring is not far away and we can start to think of trying new activities. I'm also looking forward to yardwork. Just think of what planting flowers and sprucing up the paint can do for your 'ceps. I want to give swimming, bicycyling and tennis a chance. I may even look up my old gym teacher to help me take up archery again and I've already started thinking of what I'm going to plant in my vegetable garden. Think of what that's good for-cardio, strength and healthy eating.
Some also have a new reason to go shopping because the inches and pounds we've shed in fall and winter have brought new dress sizes! For me it's from size 22 last spring to size 14s and 16s this spring.
Let winter hang around a little longer if it must but close your eyes, hear a bird sing, see tulips and daffodils, smell the fragrance of roses, imagine the barbecue in your back yard, think "renouvellement!" and feel yourself energize!
57 DAYS TILL SPRING!
