I'm back - at least tracking

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

I have had a rotten two weeks since my last post. Please forgive the sourness of this entry - as I am usually upbeat and happy. My uncle died last week and so did my Grandmother's best friend - who I've known my whole life. Both were unexpected and I can't fly home for their funerals because I just had major surgery. Thankfully, everyone in my family understands. I live in Minnesota. My family is in Florida.

Ok - that severe abdominal pain turned out to be pretty serious. They couldn't find anything wrong with me in a CT scan other than a fibroid tumor and a hemmoraghic cyst. The doctor decided to do a 30 minute exploratory surgery which ended up with me being in surgery for over 5 hours and days in the hospital. He ended up having to do a hysterectomy because the fibroid had grown outside the uterus and through my bladder. Additionally, my uterus, bladder and both ovaries were plastered to my admonimal wall with masses of scar tissue. My uterine was also plastered to my bladder and one of my ovaries was adhered to my large intestine. No wonder I have been in so much pain all these years.

I am still in the recovery phase - but can't do any real, meaningful exercise for several weeks yet. I now have a bladder infection related to the surgery. My iron dropped from 11 to 6 after the surgery and so the doctor put me on iron tablets. However, I can't take them with the antibiotics, so I am very tired and have bad headaches. I am hoping for an end to all of this soon.

I really miss all my friends online. To add insult to injury, I had joined the New You boot camp at the beginning of this month - and now, I am going to be disqualified because I have been too sick to meet the requirements.

I'm so sorry you have had a rough couple of weeks. The good news is that things can only get better. You will make it through these rough patches. Take it one day at a time. Focus your energy on today, not yesterday and not tomorrow. Just for today, you can do it, you will get stronger. emoticon ~ beth

I am sorry to hear about your losses. You know what they say, when it rains....
I am glad to hear that you are on the road to recovery. Thankfully they found what was causing so much trouble. ::hugs:: I'm sure it is hard, but I know you can do it!
emoticon Stay warm! (We're having cold weather in the NE, I'm sure you are too!)

Thank goodness the doctor caught all of this and removed it. You are on the road to recovery and will feel so much better once you're healed. You will come back refreshed and ready to make your own boot camp DVD. You better start lining up a marketing team.

Oh my, you have had a rough couple weeks. Sorry to hear about the deaths of your uncle and friend. I am so glad to read that you are not in critical condition after your surgery. Hopefully the bad headaches will go away and you will get your strength back. Do you have to work or were you able to take some sort of disability leave? Don't worry about the bootcamp - there will be more in the future and you can kick butt then once your body has recovered. Take care.

Max
