Back in the saddle

I am an outdoor exerciser; my cardio minutes come from riding my bike almost daily and paddling the dragonboat with my team twice a week. This early winter shoved a big wrench in those works. Portland had the most snow it's had in more than 50 years; roads were impassable by any wheeled vehicle, and our boats were frozen solid. After the thaw, the winds whipped and the river ran high and full of debris. Still no riding, and no paddling! I've been feeling myself getting soft, and I gained a few pounds back. But mostly, I've just been going crazy from being unable to get my exercise!!
FINALLY... the snow and ice are gone, the winds are manageable, and the river has calmed a bit. Finally I can ride and paddle again! My muscles feel better though it will take some time for them to firm back up. Hopefully those few pounds will go quickly. And I just recently added a new cardio workout - swing dancing - which I can do even when the winds howl and the river runs high.
