2009 is flying by so fast already! I went off my diet in dec for the first time since i have been with Sparkpeople. I totally and thoroughly enjoyed the holidays and all the good food that went with them. I had a wonderful time doing it too. Do I have any regrets about it? Not really. Will I do it again next Christmas? Absolutely. It pleased my mother and the truly important people in my lives to see that I enjoyed what they so lovingly cooked for us. This is something you can't measure.. Will I get right back with my program after the holiday next year? Absolutely.. I am already planning for it.
Seeing 216lbs on that scale staring back at me was such a thrill.. but I know that I will see that number again.I am working hard at it now. I gained about 15lbs.. and have lost a good portion of it already.
I got pretty sick in november and was having to do most of my walking inside but am now back outside everyday and it feels sooooo good! I can't tell you how much I missed being out in nature, smelling the clean air.. watching the wildlife and just feeling the chilly air on my face. It's all good.
I was having a hard time getting to Sparkpeople.. working far too many hours and being too tired to spend the time on the computer.. I missed all my Sparkbuddies and am trying to get back here now and put in a certain amount of time each day.. it might not be as much as before but I will be here. I need the stimulation.. like Kathy said in one of her blogs.. I need to see the success stories too. I had a member write to me who had joined a year ago and she told me I was her inspiration.. well she has now lost 100lbs and she is MY inspiration!!!
I am truly in love with the South beach Diet.. I can't say enough good about it. This morning for breakfast I had kale, sweet peppers, cabbage, onion, garlic & broccoli all stir fried in coconut oil with sweet mesquite seasoning.. I love it with Essence of Emerils Asian too.. This is almost a decadent breakfast..
Veggies are where it's at for me.. I really can't get enough of them. I thought it would be hard for me to give up the fruit in phase one and to be honest I thought it was a low carb diet but it has nothing to do with carbs.. I tell everyone who asks me how do I keep on keeping on.. I tell them South Beach.. it is the easiest way to eat ever.. the food list is endless and even in phase one you have such a bountiful choice.
I need to get back in the pool.. my exercise has pretty much been limited to walking this past couple months. Today I am going to burn brush tho.. we had the property cleared this past summer and have been waiting for winter and the leaves to be off the trees out back to burn safely.. I will be dragging all the brush and tree branches that were cut down so I have a big work day in store for me.. lots of exercise of the kind that is going to make me a good sore and burn calories as a bonus. Tomorrow I am taking the dogs and we are going to do some hiking then onto the beach for a 3-5 mile walk.
I am crocheting like mad at work.. making hats and afghans.. the baby afghan is done I will post a pic before i send it to Alaska.. the one I am doing for Steve's sis is half way done. We are doing the hats on a loom.. I love doing these and they are toasty warm! We got in on a 70% off sale on yarn yesterday so I am all stocked up.
The weather here is gorgeous! Cold but inviting me to GET OFF THE COMPUTER.. so thats just what I am going to do.. hope you all have a great weekend, aat healthy food.. and get that exercise in..
Oh yeah.. don't forget your Veggies and water!
