Today was not the best day of my life... Let me start by saying I had the best of intentions. I jumped in the shower to get ready to run a few errands, and when I was finished, I noticed that the drain wasn't running as freely as it should. For the record, let me say now that the story I am about to tell you is sort of a repeat of a story from the past... ONLY A HUNDRED TIMES WORSE!!! I reached down to pull the metal grate up. It SHOULD be pulled up with a screwdriver or similar tool. I stood back up with the grate in hand, and blood poring everywhere... I SCREAMED for my DH. He was also in the shower and didn't hear me yell. I began to cry in frusration and pain... More in frustration and because I couldn't get the bleeding to stop. I pulled the showerhead off its hook and held it betwwen my knees letting it run cold over my hands and splash on my (now blood-covered) feet. Eventually the bleeding slowed. I jumped out of the shower and went to the bedroom door and SCREAMED bloody murder across the house. My DH said "I'm in the shower." I SCREAMED, "I don't F*&%*%$ care where you are. Get in here." Of course he came running knowing now that something was wrong and found me bleeding again. We dressed... Me with lots of help, and went to the emergency clinic about 20 minutes away. My last tetanus shot was circa 1996 so that was first on the agenda, and then soaking and washing and rebandaging. I have to watch for infection, but other than that, I'll survive... I'm not allowed to clean the drain anymore. BIG HARDSHIP THERE! NOT! I also will be hunting and pecking for a while as I only have use of 6 of my fingers and 1 thumb.... Life is going to be interesting for a few days!
