I wasn't part of this challenge because I wasn't feeling sure of myself going into the holidays. Well..... I am very excited to tell all of you my losing my pants story which happened yesterday.
I received a gift card for the holidays from my family for the plus size store Torrid. I would typically buy a couple of tops and pair them with some plus size stretch pants from Walmart. See, I'm only 5'1 and even the short or petite pants at the plus size stores were too long.
My fashionable daughters insisted I buy a pair of "skinny jeans" which are really "in" right now. I realize I have lost some weight but in my eyes I still have a lllooooonnnnnngggg way to go.
So I went to Torrid yesterday, grabbed a pair of "skinny jeans" in size 18 (I would typically wear a 20 or 22) and a few clearance tops for the summer in a size 0. I didn't try anything on and fully expected the pants to be too tight and look awful. I figured the tops would be too small for now but would give me incentive for the summer. To my surprise I got home tried everything on and it all fit, except for the pants. I was swimming in those pants.
I went back to the store and exchanged the pants for a size 16. Got home and guess what!!! Too big again!!! Went back to the store and exchanged the 16 for a 14 short which look perfect on me and I love.
You would think my story couldn't get any better but it does. After leaving the store for the 3rd time I ran into my youngest daughters old day care provider who I haven't seen for a least a year. The first thing she said is what in the world have you been doing with yourself, you've lost so much weight! That felt really good to hear and gave me incentive to keep pushing.
I hope this gives all of you incentive to keep pushing for the best you in 2009 and to get ready for the lose your pants for valentines day challenge. Please add my name to the list, I'm aiming for a size 12 now!
