2009 Resolution Run 10K

I completed my first OFFICIAL 10k this morning!! I did one VIRTUAL 10k a few months back but this was the real deal. It was cold and rainy this morning and I almost blew off the running because I have been sick for the past week. This darn virus had me good, too. I haven't been sick in about a year but it got me and it got me good. I was meeting a fellow spark, Felicia, there and once I got there I had no other choice than to run. It was in Mission Bay and the scenery was nice, even though it was cold and wet. I was excited that I ran the whole thing and I got to use my Garmin Forerunner 305 that I got for Christmas. It gives tons of info and I LOVE IT!!! I highly recommend it for people who love gadgets, info and want to take their running to the next level.
The first few miles, Felicia (FHAMWEY) and I ran together. We were running at a slightly faster pace than we do when we are doing one of our half marathon training runs. We were near the end of the pack but running at a comfortable pace. Around the third mile, Felicia started having difficulty with her MP3 player and we were pretty focused on our run/pace/thoughts and not quite as conversational as we normally are (sorry!). Felicia stopped at one of the water stations and since I had on my brand new hydration belt (LOVE IT!!!) I kept on going. I started pacing myself with a couple of people that were faster than me. For the rest of the race, I pushed myself. I am not sure of the official time but I was proud that I finished strong. I got an orange and a couple of sample items and then saw Felicia coming. I ran back to where she was and we ran in together. She, too, rocked the race and had a good performance!!! WAY TO GO!!!
I want to thank Diane (Dialy_Storm) and Rachel (Rachnextdoor) for making out to the meetup. Congrats to Rach for completing the 5k!!! Way to get out there and weather the storm - literally!!! It was great catching up with you today! Diane, thanks for coming to the meet up and adding to the days highlights! You are a great support for the SD team. You not only talk the talk but walk the walk. Thank you!
I love the comraderie and support that I have gained from a few of my fellow sparks - Marcy (Celia6191), Jessica (Coffeerun), and Felicia!!! You guys are great and I appreciate you!!!
