Had a bit of a meltdown yesterday. Decided that yesterday was the day I would go for a run outdoors....still doing the treadmill. Went to the running room with the girls to buy a balaclava. Clearly the run was doomed from the start.....my husband was inbetween his 12 hour nightshifts, I was home alone with a 2 year old and an 8 week old, oh and it was -10 with a windchill of -18. Once I realized that the run wasn't going to happen I began to cry and it was as if the floodgates were released. My poor hubby didn't know what to say, and Claire kept asking what was wrong. Luckily my dear friend came to the rescue, swooped in and took Claire to her house for the New Year's Party. I managed to sit calmly as my baby slept and got sorted out. Being cooped up in this house for 4 days and the business of the holidays had finally taken its toll. Needless to say I managed to wipe my tears away, think of everything that I should be thankful for and made it to the party. Oh and I did manage to do a walk/run on the treadmill.
So now for my New Years resolutions. Besides the usual being happy, thankful etc, I can't really count getting healthy as one because I started this journey in December and I won't be so cliche to say that my resolution is to have no resolutions....no offence. I think my resolution for 2009 will be to slowdown and enjoy the journey...and not be so obsessed with the destination ( speaking of cliche! lol ). So the first thing will be that I will not step on the scale until Feb 1st. No more obsessing and stepping on it 5 times a day....not healthy or helpful! I am going to focus on eating clean, logging my nutrition and fitness and gearing up to run a 25K trail race this October.
In the meantime I will enjoy the moment, my two precious angels and my supportive hubby.....It is too easy to think about what is next.
So Happy New Year to everyone.
P.S I will also not stress that during these freezing months my 2 year old may watch more TV than I would like because it is impossible to take my 8 week old out in this weather.
