WARNING SIGNS OF DIABETES

Tuesday, December 09, 2008

Many people have diabetes and are unaware that they have it. I had many of the symptoms of diabetes for years but I wasn't diagnosed until recently.
I had gotten so tired that I would go back to bed after being up for a short while. I was suffering a lot of anxiety. I felt dizzy. I felt weak most of the time even though I was trying to eat correctly. I had extremely dry skin. I kept being so thirsty that even water didn't quench my thirst.
When I had gotten to the point that I didn't feel like sitting up and I didn't feel like lying down I finally went to the doctor.
The reason I kept putting it off was that I felt too exhausted to go.
I didn't eat anything that morning just in case they had to do tests.
A routine urine sample showed sugar present so the doctor ordered a fasting
blood sugar test. It was almost 300. He then ordered a blood profile which
indicated diabetes.
My point is you can be suffering from diabetes and not know it.
Some common symptoms of diabetes are: TIRED ALL THE TIME, ALWAYS THIRSTY, NEED TO URINATE OFTEN, BLURRY VISION, ALWAYS HUNGRY,
SEXUAL PROBLEMS,WOUNDS THAT DON'T HEAL QUICKLY,VAGINAL INFECTIONS, NUMB OR TINGLING HANDS OR FEET.
Diabetes causes other problems too....excess sugar in your saliva causes
tooth decay.
Diabetes can damage your blood vessels and nerves which can lead to
heart and blood vessel problems, eye disease, kidney disease, nerve disease,
teeth, gum and skin infections, and problems with your legs and feet.
If you are tired all the time you need to get a check up...tiredness can be a sign of something serious.
Diabetes has to be managed correctly or you can die from complications.
Stay healthy. emoticon

Oh this is not the greatest news, is it? Dang it! I hope you are aggressive with your treatment Mayzee-woman. I have been watching mine and I try to recommend all our gluten-free friends in the Celiac Team the same thing, but I'm not sure they really understand. Sometimes I think I'm harping and give up.

My fave site for info is bloodsugar101.com. She's aggressive - not sure you can hang with it, but Jenny's info has rocked my understanding and made a difference to me. My best to you as you figure it all out.

That's useful advice for everyone. A touring health caravan visited my area and it was doing diabetes tests. I went in and got the all-clear. Other people were not so lucky. Good luck with it all.
