I have decided to bite the bullet and sign up for the Carlsbad 1/2 Marathon on January 25, 2009. I have been training for the past couple of weeks and am excited about the prospect of doing something big and challenging myself to step outside my comfort zone and just do it!!!
This past weekend, I ran further than I ever have in one stretch. My Nike Plus said it was 6.88 Miles and I walked about .25-.50 (warm-up & cool down) and I was totally psyched. I felt good. I learned a few little lessons like:
1.) I need to carry water with me on longer runs (duh!)
2.) Any run longer than about 60 minutes requires some sort of fuel (Gu, Shot Blox, etc.)
3.) Stretch properly after long runs (another duh! but sometimes I learn the hard way! ha)
4,) I am open to other suggestions so feel free to leave them for me!!
One small step toward a fairly large goal....half marathon, here I come!!!
