3-Day is over!

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Hey everyone! I'm back from the 3-Day. Surprisingly no blisters this year. However, I did fall down my back steps two days before the event, landing squarely on my right knee.

I pushed through the knee pain on day 1 to complete 22 miles. Day two I didn't think I would be able to walk, but I got up and I started the walk, walking 11 miles to the lunch stop before finally giving up in defeat and boarding the bus. I cried the entire 10 miles back to camp because I was so dissappointed. Day 3 I did the same thing, walking 11 miles to lunch then boarding the bus.

Getting back to camp on Day 1 and seeing that I received 22 cards - half from people I've never laid eyes on - took the pain away! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for supporting me and making me feel like I was doing something truly extraordinary!!!

So, I only managed to complete 44 of the 60 miles. I know the event is about raising the money for the fight against breast cancer. However, once the money is raised the walk itself becomes something personal, a mountainous goal to reach. I'm not happy that I didn't reach the goal, but I'm not beating myself up about it either. I did the best I could, through some serious pain.

I still have about $1100 that I need to deposit in my fundraising account from various fundraisers, but I'm still about $700 short and will have to pay that myself if I can't raise it by December 12th. I know financial times are tough (I'm about to lose my job within the next 3 months), but I would so appreciate it if you would all forward my personal page link to everyone you know. If 70 people would just give $10 each I'd make it!
