I have been a member of Spark People since August, 2008. So far, I have been careful about what I eat, eating more veggies and fruit, no fried foods, very little sugar, etc. For the past two months, I have been walking 2 miles or more each morning, and walking a lot during the day. Most days I manage more than 10,000 steps. I also drink 8 or more glasses of water per day. But I just can't seem to lose any weight. My husband says maybe I have been gaining muscle, but it is so frustrating. But, I will not give up! I am determined to get passed this, and I really need encouragement. (I also suffer from hyperthyroidism, which does not help.) By the way, this is my very first blog on spark.

I amn sorry you are struggling so.
By what I read you are doing all the right things. Maybe you ae at a platau? Sometiems youcanbe stuck there with what seems forever, but jsut take it one day at a time, and try not to weigh yourself eachday. Your body can fluxuae from 3 to 5 pounds either way, in a day's time.
Have you checked to see if you are eating the right nuber of calories? If you do a lot of exercuise, theyou may have to increase your calorie intake.
Do you follow the food chart as I found this helps. Other than drinking plenty of water,and staying within your calorie range, it sounds t ome you are doing just what needs to be done.
Have you checked your sodium amount to make sure you ae not eating too much?
A good thing to do is mesure yourself. Wait a couple wrrks or so and then check againa ndi bet youwill see that youare losing inches. Sometimes tht isabetter way to tell if youare losing, instead of the scale.
also remember, the scale is just a number,and don't let it control you.
Just hang in there. Do not give up. Just try and go one day at a time. And I willl pray for you.
You have probably heard my stoiry over and over again,how I did not eat enough calories and when I joine dSP,I was instarvation mode andhad beenfor many years. How did I know? It took me almost a year to retrain my brain that I needed to eat more,and then the scale jsut sat,month after month after mmonth. But then it finally started coming off and I lost it real fast. I still struggle with eating enoguh calories,but it is a consnt thing and each day is a new one.

Hi Linda! Boy, I can relate to how you're feeling - been in a bit of a funk myself the past couple of weeks. It's difficult to stay the course when you can't see the progress, but you have to believe that persistence will pay off! One of my Spark Buddies on another team mentioned "calorie cycling" where you eat the same number of calories in a week, but you rotate the amount per day so your body doesn't get into a rut and try to horde the fat. An example: one day 1598 calories, next day 1304, then 1917, then 1498, then 1438, etc. There's a spark team that uses that idea, but I looked at it and found it overwhelming - too much information on too many things for my mind to absorb. :)
Another thing I was about to do when I read your blog is check my calorie calculator and see if I have it set for the amount of exercises I'm doing now. I've gone from 2 miles a day to 3 miles and I'm not sure if I adjusted it. Are you using the nutrition tracker?? Check your settings to be sure you've included your exercise. Been so long since I looked, don't even remember where it is - but I'll figure it out. LOL

It sure sounds like you are doing the right things to gear you toward your weight loss goals. I am sure that you are gaining more muscle and that you are also becoming healthier due to your lifestyle changes. I don't know enough about thyroid problems to offer any advice but I do wish I knew what to say to help fix your problem. I almost didn't respond thinking I might say the wrong thing, I will however keep you in my prayers, that God may work in your life and help you to achieve you to achieve your weight loss goals.
