HAPPY DANCE!!!!

For the past three mornings, I managed to get myself out of bed and get to the gym around 6am. It is a fantastic way to start the day and get my exercise out of the way. There aren't many excuses one can use at 6am other than "I am tired." Once I get out of bed, I am soooo glad that I did and it is well worth it!!! I feel great and have figured out a wonderful way to incorporate exercise into a busy schedule.

Previously, I used to work out during my lunch break but about a year ago our office moved to a less desirable location and I have hated walking/running in the area and simply stopped doing my exercise during lunch. I, instead, started working out after work because it was spring/summer and the sun was up til 7 or 8pm.

In the beginning of September, my daughter joined a competitive swim team and they have practice 5x/week from 6:30-7:30pm. This was right smack in the middle of my exercise time. I started to exercise (walk/run) while she was at practice but it started getting dark earlier and earlier until I didn't feel it was safe for me to go running alone at night. What was a girl to do? Here enters the getting up early and hitting the gym notion.

I knew my situation wasn't going to change anytime soon and that meant I HAD to come up with another option. This seemed to be the ONLY option. I was very hesitant at first but I am super glad that I gave this a whirl!!! This is the key to long term success. Being able to be flexible and maintain health/exercise as a priority are of the utmost importance.

So, after struggling for a couple of weeks I am happy to report a small smidgen of success!! YAY ME!!!

Definitely YAYYYYY!!!! It is so humbling to see that even the best Spark Motivators can lose their mojo every now and then. I'm so happy for you that you're back on the wagon - thanks for being a great example.

That is very exciting! I still have not managed to do that. I am finding that it is harder and harder to find time to work out and I can come up with lots of excuses by afternoon. I really need to get up and go. I just hate the gym at that time though. (Hmmm..maybe just and excuse)

I actually started my running when my son had 7am practices in Tierrasanta pool this summer. I had to get him there by 6:45 and he wasn't done until 9. I found a track at the middle school and I ran everyday. Before I knew it, I was running 5 miles. But, now since summer has ended, I have not been getting up.

You are doing great. Keep up the good work. You are a very motivating person.

Yeah You!!! You are right about morning workouts. My kids are in high school now, so although I don't like driving to a gym and leaving them alone sleeping, I do feel ok walking the neighborhood. I also have a stationary bike, but can't seem to get a good workout on that in the a.m. Anyway, I am proud of you!

You go girl!!!

Good for you! Children are great motivators for change
I started the early morning workouts when they were born because it was the only time I could count on having just for me.
GOOD JOB doing the adjustment. I run early with a headlight that I stra[ actoss my chest like a HRM. Great visibility for cars to see me and good illumination of the street.

I keep thinking that if I could do some cardio at home, then my gym weight training could fly by...But getting up earlier means hitting the sack earlier... Therein lies my dilemma!!

I applaud your commitment!

Leah, I'm so impressed with you. I so can't get up early. I am NOT a morning person, and I envy anyone who can workout in the morning.
