I cried but I didn't smoke !!!

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Just two miles from home, coming down the off ramp from the highway and my car died......... No steering, no brakes, heading for the underpass of the overpass of the highway....... guy behind me almost creamed me...... tried to put the car in neutral, trying to slow down and stop..... grinding noise under the hood of the car....... metal on metal.......... awful sound.......... car finally stopped..... between the off ramp and the on ramp to the highway....... I am going to die..............

Reaching over to get my cell phone out of my purse..... there's a man tapping on my window......... I look up........ "Are you ok? Do you need help? " ............. it is the man with the "good samaritan" van !!!!!............ Where did he come from !!??!!
"Yes! Please !!
I can push you out of the way of traffic........ he does.........
I am shaking like a leaf......... I WANT a cig........ I start to cry...........
He offers to call AAA for me........ I am a member.........
They will be here in 20 minutes. He tries to start the car.......... nothing.......... lights work, windshield wipers work........... just won't start.............
AAA arrive........ up onto the truck my car goes. ....... and away to home we go..........
To make this long story short......... the distributor went on my car......... the car is 13 years old and it just ..... went.....
Thankfully our mechanic was able to get an other one and I had my car back in one day............ $300 later..............

The Pollyanna in me says " Good thing it didn't happen on the highway....... losing the steering and brakes would have been way
worse and heaven only know what would have happen.......

Now I am nervous driving my car even though I know nothing else will go wrong with it.......... or will it ?!?!?!?

I spotted this blog the other day and meant to come by and see what was up ... I'm sooooooo glad you didn't smoke! Of course I'm hoping you had none of the things around you anyway, so not in hands reach during the most stressful part. Good job there!

I saw your comment on my zucchini recipe. I don't pay too much attention to carbs as long as they're not the refined stuff, but if you go to my cookbook on my page and find my Lasagna recipe, you'll see a way of making your own tomato sauce that will cut the carbs down even more (I think) and drastically lower the sodium content ... possibly more than you'd like. You can always freeze left over pasta sauce for use at a later time. I always have some in my freezer ready for thawing and heating when I want to make something like this.

I'm glad you made it through o.k. even though it sucks to have car trouble.
thank god for the good samaritan and bless your heart for not smoking.
You did good!!

Glad to hear all turned out fine for you, you must have been really scared though. The universe sends us the right person to help out when we really need it....things happen for a reason. Good for you not smoking, see how strong you have become? perhaps that was your lesson today? Lynne emoticon

Wow! Way too scary. You were very lucky to have stopped when you did and have that man stop and help you. Glad everything turned out well. Our car is old too and we have put money into it but it runs and that is what counts. Have a great evening. Pam
