Tired of being sick!

Friday, October 10, 2008

Well, here I am on the 7th day of sickness with laryngitis and bronchitis. I started last Friday night with a severe sore throat that progressed over the weekend to the loss of my voice. Had to stay home Monday from work, since I am a nurse and my voice is an essential thing to have when speaking with patients. After a day of resting my voice and drinking fluids, my voice came back and I happily went to work on Tuesday. I even felt well enough to go to my personal trainer session after work. By the time I finished with PT, I was starting to loose my voice again. ARGGHH!! I finally broke down and went to the Dr. on Wednesday. He gave me the diagnosis of laryngitis, which I had already figured out, and bronchitis. GREAT, I thought. Can't work, can't exercise, strictly rest and fluids. Oh and lets not forget the two scrips he gave me, an antibiotic and cough suppressant. So, I let my boss know what the MD said and canceled my other PT sessions for the rest of the week.

So far, I have been at home moping about. I am a social creature by nature, I was not meant to be cooped up in the house with no interaction. I am going crazy with boredom!!! I can only be proud of one thing at this moment and that is I haven't binged or strayed off my nutritional plan, knock on wood:) I never thought sickness could go on this freaking long!! I mean I was on a record steak, exercising and food journaling. Now I have been stopped cold in my tracks because of this stupid aggravating sickness!! HELP!!! emoticon

You are a nurse. Drink your fluids, get your vitimin C, keep warm and rest your body while keeping your mind entertained. Mind over matter, nurture over nature. Chronic condidtions will always resuface if you let yourself get down.
