The "myspace diet ad"

Sunday, October 05, 2008

Hello everyone. I have recieved tons of emails, messages, and comments regarding the ad being run on myspace with "my story" and pics. All I can say is that is not my story. The story they have wrote is completely false and could not be any further from the truth.
If you would like to read my real diet weight loss story please check out my personal website at www. brookiebomb. com under the about Brook section. My passion and goals in life are to help inspire people through telling them about my experierences and knowledge about weight loss. It deeply hurts me to read such false things being wrote about me and to recieve "hate" mail due to people reading two conflicting stories and thinking I am a liar. I am a very honest, passionate person and would never knowingly take part in making up a false story to help a company profit. I am being taken advantage of and it deeply sadens me. Being the optimist that I am, I am hopeing only good will come from this and I am taking this as a learning experience. Just goes to show you that most advertisments out there are fake, which is very sad.

If you have sent me an email, message, or sparkmail and I have not yet replyed please know that I am sorry and I will be replying when the time is right with personal diet tips and to answer any question you have. In the mean time keep up the hard work. Remember there is no miricle pill or quick fix for this, it takes time, patience, diet and a lot of sweat and tears to get from where I was to where I am now. If I can do it so can you.
Goodluck :)

Brookie :)

Wow - I'm so shocked and amazed by this. I can't believe anyone would attack you for being a liar or anything like that, but I just wanted to stop by and say PLEASE don't let any of this get to you. It's not worth it and you know how amazing your story is - forget what anyone else thinks!

Plus we all know the truth!! emoticon

I am new to SP but I recognized your photo so decided to visit your site. They used your before photo in the velour suit, and the after photo in the brown bikini. This was for a weight loss tea.
I ended up getting the tea because they offered it for free and you just pay the shipping. Little did I know that when you sign up for the tea, in fine print I guess because I don't remember reading this at all, they automatically sign you up to some website and charge your credit card $20 a month. I never noticed and they kept taking money from me. Never got all my money back, and I hate to imagine how many other people are being scammed out of their money.
And then I read this blog, showing the company is even worse than I thought. Taking someone's accomplishment that they have worked so hard to achieve and putting the credit to some stupid tea that just tastes and works like any other Oolong tea out there.
I'm sorry you had to go through this. But I am happy that I found you on here and got to read your real story. It is so inspirational.

All the best to you and your family.

Sylvia

Yes, I recognized you right away... but I didn't believe it one bit because I had read your real story for motivation many times. Couldn't you sue or something?

    Hi Brook,

I saw an ad today with your pics, and wondered if they'd been stolen from you because the linked site was so whack - I knew it WAS NOT YOU! (I know we're not SparkFriends proper, but I've definitely stopped by your page plenty over the time I've been with SP, so I recognised you right away.)

I figured I'd come here to alert you, but obviously you're well aware of this already! Sorry this has been happening to you, girl!

I copied the image and the ad server domain address. If you want them, I'd be more than happy to send them to you via e-mail. Just let me know.

At any rate, have a Happy New Year. :)

-Lisa

I was just looking up some health info and came across this page that also had your image on it. I recognized you from SP and thought I'd share another site that is using your images. Here's the link:

I hope that you can get this all straightened out and that your images don't end up floating around giving people false hopes about magic diets/drinks/pills. I know you worked hard and I love reading your story! Thank you and hope it all works out.

I too saw this ad one day and knew right away that it wasn't you. I think they had someone else's name on it, and when I clicked on the link, it took me to some diet supplement page. is there any way that you can take legal action?

I've been on SP since March of 07, and I've enjoyed watching your success through the year. Best wishes to you and your family!

God Bless,
Beth

I just saw this ad today and knowing from reading your story and page as motivation from a while ago, I knew this couldn't be from you condoning it. That sucks that people out there would use your amazing accomplishment for personal gain.

It's funny because I saw the ad last night, and KNOWING that you're from Sparkpeople and how you lost the weight I already knew the article was fake! I was like, "GASP"! They stole her pictures! I am so sorry:( But at the same time I'm very proud of you and your success! Screw all the haters! You're hott girl! emoticon emoticon

I, as well, think that you are a great motivator and keep your picture on my Spark Page for motivation and encouragement. Even though they have done this, keep branching out and helping others. That is what will stay with you and give you pride. We here on Spark People are very proud of you! emoticon

Brooke, I just noticed an ad here at Spark of all places that had your before and after picture in it!!! So I clicked on the ad, and sure enough, that definitely wasn't a page that had anything to do with you!

It was this site: http://www.judysweightlossjourney.c

I just saw the ad on Facebook! I was mad too, because I know it's not your story and that someone has stolen your info. They are making money because of your hard work! That is so wrong and I hope you can do something about it.

The link I saw was at http://ljumpi.com/l/brook2/

My husband is an IT guy and he says you should find as many sites as you possibly can (it's obvious by the comments that there are multiple sites) and take screenshots of the page with your picture on it. Then you can try to find the owners of the sites by going to who.godaddy.com and entering in the site domain. That ljumpi site is owned by:

Every time I see that ad I am infuriated because I know your story. You are an inspiration to me because you have come so far and continue to overcome new obstacles. I hope the ads are taken down and like you said - only good comes from this.

I KNEW when I came across your sparkpage from the weight loss section there was something familiar about your picture!! Then I found it... http://courtneylostweight.com/how-i
-lost-43-pounds-in-2-months.html . Some jerk using your pictures to promote acai berry. I was so frustrated seeing a person who looks like they've tried hard to lose weight, such as yourself, having someone steal photos to advertise a product!! You should contact and lawyer and see about tracking the person making these ads down. They need to be stopped. Not only are they taking your good name and rubbing dirt on it, but they're advertising a product. Your name and weight loss shouldn't be ran into the ground. I hope you can find some help.

Anyway, congrats on all your weight loss! You look GREAT!! I hope someday I can look half as good as you do :) emoticon

I saw that add. Luckily, I had already read your real story and didn't take it seriously. The whole thing is ridiculous. They even used a fake name. There is no telling how many other people have been taken advantage of in this same way. Hopefully, anyone who comes across this add will realize that there is no miracle pill for weight loss or fitness. This is just another bogus scam to steal money from people who are desperate enough to believe the lies. Don't let this get you down. You should be proud off all that you have learned and accomplished. Keep spreading the word!!!

I am glad that you wrote this, I was actually getting on your page just to tell you about it! Maybe you can write into myspace and tell them about it or something. I am sorry to hear that ppl are writing you hate mail, they need to realize that just because you read something doesn't necessarily mean it's true or that you even allowed the story! Anyway, good luck!

Loves!

I saw that ad and thought that it was you and didn't know if you knew about it. I can't believe they used your picture to advertise their product. I would be flattered, but angry at the same time, since you worked so hard to achieve your goals. You are an inspiration and I hope one day to look half as good as you. Take care.
