What am I going to do?

I GAINED EIGHT POUNDS THIS PAST MONTH! From 8/30 weigh-in at 149 to this morning at 157. 157 was the weight Iwas when I started Spark in Feb07. I've gotten down as far at 142 in Nov07.

The holidays are coming up, and I don't see my family often so everyone is going tok now I've gained weight. My husband andI had this plan to lose 15lbs by Thanksgiving!!

    Take heart -- part of that weight may be a fluke -- it depends on the time of the month, whether or not the day before was a high sodium day in which you retained water (Take-out Chinese for example) -- if you've been drinking all your water, etc... If you think you may be retaining water, one way to release it is for ONE DAY ONLY eat high protein meals (emphasize chicken, fish, and cottage cheese) and lots of fruits and veggies -- no salt, no grain, no bread, no alcohol -- baked potato with lowfat sour cream is great and makes a wonderful breakfast. The idea is to eat a lot of protein and increase your potassium intake and minimize your sodium for one day. Don't count calories, and drink your 8 glasses of water. Amazing -- I can sometimes lose 3 pounds over night if I've been retaining water -- of course I have to keep getting up to pee...

    Take one step, one day at a time. Just do your best to lose what you can....that's all anyone can do.

    Sadly it will always be easier to gain than to lose.

But you start now to get back on track and you can lose that weight again.

According to Spark I will be able to be down 14 lbs by my birthday, Nov 23, and that is always the week of Thanksgiving.

You only have 8 lbs to lose and I know you can do this. You put down the dessert and take a walk instead.

But I have been reading your page and blogs, don't you exercise a lot? Are you sure the weight isn't muscle?

You will do this EAGLEBIKER! Just keep telling yourself that as you get on track again.

    It's 57 days until Thanksgiving, not counting today! I am sure that if you put your mind to it, you can widdle away at some of those pounds. Devise you a plan. I kow I have set me some goals for Oct. that I think will help me get my food intake under control a bit! I will be posting them in my blog tomorrow.
