Well, this week is not turning out as planned. I ran my Week9 Day 1 and it went badly. I completed it but had sharp pain in my foot and ankle. The cool down walk made it go away and a mini sprint in there didn't hurt. I was optimistic until I hit the gym on Tuesday. It hurt a ton. My trainer recommended I rest it on Wednesday eve though that was supposed to be Day 2 of Week 9.
So I came home put ice on my ankle, took Motrin and chilled. Went to bed and was woken up at 1am by someone breaking into our garage trying to steal my hubby's dirtbike. They cased our garage about 2 months ago and we got a motion activated alarm that we can hear inside but the theives can't. They ran when my husband went outside with his pistol and opened the garage door. They proke the back window to get in, cut the padlock on the outside of the side door and had gotten the inside deadbolt unlocked before they were scared away. I give my local Police department all the credit in the world though. Within 2 to 3 minutes of my call I had 2 policemen, and a helicopter searching for the thieves. In 5 minutes I had 6 cops and a K9 unit that tracked the people (We think there were 2) to the community behind us to where a car must have been parked. The crime scene guy arrived a little while later and took photos and fingerprints. They got 4 good fingerprints which is pretty exciting. So I ended up taking Wednesday off of work and got things done to re-secure the garage. We got new padlocks (we added on to the inside now also) boarded up the window for now until we replace the glass, moved the dirtbike to our friend's house about 5 miles away, got the police report, dealt with insurance and ran around a whole lot. I was on my feet for about 5 hours and my ankle was not happy.
So fast forward to last night at my trainer workout where I did my first interval (Treadmill work speeding up and slowing down like Fartlek in running) and at the 12 mile per hour pace my ankle started hurting again and continued to hurt. Hrm. NOT good. SO we cut out the second interval and My trainer encouraged me to go back to the ice and relax mode.
So we had our garage broken into and my ankle has broken down! I'm hoping I can complete the 5K tomorrow morning even if I have to walk it. I'm looking forward to it as good experience either way. I enjoy the running, but if I have to wait to do a running 5K that will be all right. I just want to gain the experience and to enjoy myself and raise money for my friend's daughter's school.
