Running. Jogging. Moving fast without the use of a motor or emergency spurring me on. This was such a totally alien idea for me for DECADES that I thought people who regularly engaged in it were masochists.
Well it turns out that a large part of my reluctance to move was sub clinical hypothyroidism, that started when I was 15.
Fast forward 31 years, I'm on thyroid meds & I LOVE to jog!!! I'm not one of those people who run with a constipated look on their face either. Nope, I have a huge grin plastered across MY face. It's such a weird thought for me to WANT to move fast, but it feels so good, that I'm actually disappointed on the days that I can't run.
Right now I'm taking it in baby steps, as I just can't ignore the fact that for whatever reason, I was sedentary for the last decade & was a smoker for 32 years.
I want to thank all the Spark People who encouraged me, even when they had no idea that I was lurking in the back, quietly reading their posts & Spark Pages, gathering courage. I've lost 2 inches off my waist, 1 1/2 off my hips, & my first 15 pounds. Anyone who is hypo knows what a big deal all of that is.
So thank you again, & if you're reading this thinking "I wish that was me", keep at it, because it WILL be!
