I recently joined a new spark group called 'spooky to hottie by halloween' group. I like the idea of having halloween as mid-term goal in losing weight. Since 31st of Oct is 8 (and a bit) weeks away - i would need to lose 1.5 pounds each week to lose 12bs by then, which is just 2 pounds short of 1 stone. I'm currently at 13 stone and would love to reach the 12 stone milestone on 31st of October.
I thought that I should keep the calorie deficit idea in mind, as mentioned in the ' http://www.sparkpeople.com/com
?q=27 ' article. Basically, one need to create "a combination of eating fewer calories and exercising to burn more calories. This is the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off." It takes approximately a 3,500 calories deficit to lose one pound.
My Basal metabolic rate (BMR) is calculated to be at 1609 calories per day, with my total energy requirements at 2092 calories per day considering I have a moderately activity level . Figures calculated on http://health.drgily.com/basal
So if I eat on average of 1,250 calories a day
and minus the 2,000 BMR moderate activity level
and minus say 400 calories burnt through exercise each day, I should be creating a deficit of -1150 a day and should be losing a pound of weight every 3 days (-1150 x 3 = -3,450).
So here is to a healthy September and good October!
