i'm like a paula abdul song

ok kids, i'm turning this ship around again. 2 steps forward, 1 (orr 2 or 3) steps back has been the name of the game for me, so that's ok. i've had a hard week....but guess what? it's over! and now the a$$ kicking can recommence.

i'm forgiving myself for this past week because:
-the sleep time has been at an extreme minimum
-i've had some pain issues
--i apparently needed one more try to learn that comfort food isn't that comforting
-i still got a run or two in, despite it all
-i worked some agency and some overtime
-at the end of the day (week!) i'm feeling positive and, although sleepy, ready to pick it up again and keep on moving forward

the pain issue isn't that bad; it's just weird. i've been so used to my body feeling good and doing what i tell it to do without too much complaining that it's been weird to have an injury. apparently i hurt my hand (thumb sprain) in the accident earlier this month. my orthopedist gave me a brace and cleared me for all activities as tolerated yesterday, so i should be good to go now. he said it might take 6 months to be back to semi-normal, but using it shouldn't cause any further damage. i can totally live with that :)

some good stuff:
-my mom's coming to visit me for the weekend! she flies in a little later this morning. i'm excited!
-my mom's a great influence on my eating and exercise patterns, so the next few days should be pretty stress-free
-i'm going to go to the farmers' market again on sunday and get awesome produce
-i'm really great
-i'm determined to run 9 miles this weekend
-lists are really nifty

oh btw, if y'all are looking for some serious inspiration, head over to the goyaam group (their link is on my page) and check them out. be warned, just might have to make time for a workout or a dance session right then and there because their enthusiasm is truly infectious :)

that about wraps it up for me...have a great weekend, everyone! i'll let you know how my first 9 miler goes!

today: find a couple of hours to sleep, hang out with my mom, go for a jog
tomorrow: have fun and eat well!
sunday: run, baby, run!
every day: goyaam!

Hey there! sounds like you've got your plans well worked out for you!

By the way, I think the best item on your list is 3rd from last. We all need to say that to ourselves .. and OFTEN!!

Have a great run this weekend!

Great to keep learning from our stumbles, eh? :-)

It never ceases to amaze me how teensy deviations can quickly yawn wide open into a full blown relapse if we allow!

Case in point, yesterday I varied my routine by skipping my morning treadmill routine and biking to work from the repair shop and later biking back to the repair shop after work.

This morning I found myself wanting to skip my treadmill routine! I had to REALLY PUSH myself to get back on the darn thing!!

I think I need to build a little more flexibility and cross-training into my routine so that I can better roll with the changes.

GL with your can be such a let down when our bodies don't live up to our expectations! But you sound like you've done a super job of NOT beating yourself up! Good for you!

ps, thx for stopping by my blogs so regularly! it really helps to know others are rooting for you!

Good luck to ya! Sorry about your hand :( You're doing great though, so you can handle it, even if you take a step backwards now and again.

Take it easy and can fall, but you cannot fail :)
