We had a dial scale that was years old. Our scale was not always consistent. I could step on the scale twice within a 5 minute period and get two different weights. The amount would be different by 1 or 2 lbs.
Our scale was not accurate. We also noticed that if we were weighed on a doctors scale, we were heavier. Enough that weight and time of day could not account for it all.
My husband decided it was time for a new scale. This weekend we bought a digital scale. Now, it seems, I weigh more. In reality, I now know how much I weigh. I shifted all my weigh in stats up by 5 lbs.
