Thank God for Green Beans

Thursday, July 24, 2008

We all know that green beans are nutritious and good for our physical health. I've learned that they can be good for your spiritual health, as well.

Since my father-in-law has had to go for chemo, he cannot always work on the farm. One day when I was there, I got out in the field at 5:30 and started picking beans. I picked beans off and on most of the day, and then, helped sort them for market. The ones that had bug bites or were too small were not sent to market. I didn't think a whole lot about it. It was just something that needed doing. Because I love the man and I love the Lord, I wanted to help. I didn't know that I was showing him God's love. He commented on it later in front of my husband. He also told me how it had helped my mother-in-law to have us there.

I have been praying for his physical healing, but also for his spiritual healing. I'm not sure that he loves Jesus; so any chance I get to show him the love of Jesus is great. He doesn't want to talk about faith and feels that churches are just full of hypocrites.

Isn't it just like God to use something as simple as a green bean to show someone His love! I am reminded about how God used the wheat field to put Ruth and Boaz together. He sent word to Gideon at the threshing floor. He so often uses the ordinary to reach us. We look for bolts from Heaven and He's showing us His love and grace through the common things. Thank you, Lord, for green beans!

    I love your blog

Because I think people should see the God in you and when they see that in you it will spark something in them to want to know what you have. Keep doing what you and doing and the Lord will do the rest. Remember that one plants, one waters and God gives the increase. You ARE plant planting seeds they may not be grean beans seeds, but your FAITH seeds ARE being planted. Keep you eyes open to recieve that harvest.

I am praying for your father-in-law. He is fortunate to have you.
I couldn't find a green bean, so I'm giving you a carrot.
