Going Vegearian be not crazy =0)

I just wanted to share with my friends a little about my very new lifestyle change.
I started out by counting my calories on my favorite website Sparkpeople and so far it has been two months and I have lost 17lbs. (I haven’t always been so good though there are many times I go a little over board ) I haven’t been exercising much but I’m working on that one.

My newest change is I am no longer eating meat. I have learned so far being on the calorie counting lifestyle that everything must been done in steps (at least for me personally) So I will be starting out by not eating red meat or Pork now before you go thinking I am out of my mind here are some of my reasons, Red eat has been linked to so many bad diseases and it is extremely hard for your body to digest also on a more moral ground I read the book Skinny bitch and I am so grossed out I don’t think I can even eat cow or pigs now.

I am still eating chicken for the time being I am hoping to limit my intake of it but I hope to eventfully be meat free I do LOVE eating fish and I have no problems with eating fish so I will always eat seafood well as far as I know I will. Now before you start thinking this is bad for me I am taking supplement s for victims and minerals that Vegetarians are often accused of lacking so health won’t be an issue as for the “protein factor” Soy products have tons of protein in them so I really don’t think this should be an issue.

I will actually being eating more fruits and veggies because I have found that a person doesn’t eat meat they can still eat junk… Like I can still eat Taco bell if I wanted just order meatless things. The idea is to still count my calories as well.

So I basically I am expecting to have with drawls and a hard start but I just hate how I feel after I eat meat like when I eat a burger I feel so tired and lethargic that I don’t want to exercise or be active at all for that matter so for me this is what I feel is best. As for my family, Jeremy wants to still eat which is fine that is his choice not mine as for Hayden well he doesn’t eat a whole lot of stuff to start with but I will probably try him on the veggie chick’n nuggets just to see what he thinks. So if you have any helpful and / or encouraging comments or suggestions let me know .

Hi Katie, I too am going vegetarian. I have read so much about the meat in this country and how bad it is for your health that I am going to give it up cold "turkey". Everything that is except eggbeaters, skim milk and seafood, I just can't give up my lobster and scallops. I will eat them sparingly of course. My son has been eating this way now for several years and is not having any health issues so I expect I won't either. If anything it should help with my diabetes, cholesterol and high blood pressure. I will be supplementing my protein intake with tofu, which I use to make shakes, beans and brown rice. I have lots of recipes to try. I will take a multivitamin and will also track my vitamin and mineral levels daily when I log my food, if there is anything I am short in then I will take what I need after I know that I need it.

I would love to keep in touch with you! Since we are both like minded it would be cool to give each other support and helpful tips about eating this way.

Super Good Luck to you becoming a vegetarian! emoticon
