Garage Sale / Inventory List of Equipment for Exercise

Saturday, June 28, 2008

A great way to pick up cheap exercise equipment is garage sales and estate sales.

Stationary Bike $10
Air Stepper $3 (asking $15 and I got it for $3)
Weights for curls ($15)
Stride Cycle - Walmart ($23.99)
(2) 3 lb dumb bells $5
Stretch Bands $FREE
Treadmill - have had (bought new 6 years ago $159.00
Didn't get all at once...but got 3 items today
Thigh thing ($3)
Matt (walmart - new $5)
Exercise Ball ($30) I got years ago when I had physical therapy for injury
Another Exercise Ball (not blown up) for backup - $FREE
Rowing Machine - haven't used, kind of big, in garage, but think I will bring out and put in front yard for the nice weather to work out with (Free) Someone was giving it away.

Ok, I get bored doing the same thing over and over so I have to have variety. Also, I can't afford to pay for a membership for a gym. And we were unable to have enough to renew our membership with the community center.

Arm Rolls (no equipment needed)
Waist Twists (no equipment needed)
Walking up and down porch steps (no equipment needed)
Dancing (no equipment needed
Butterflies (no equipment needed) Dumbells can be used
crunches - (no equipment needed)
walking (no equipment needed)
jogging (no equipment needed, but I hate jogging)
running (same thing)
Side Walk Curb - use it like a stair stepper (Free)
Walking somewhere, see stairs - walk up them
Park far away from entrance instead of close
Walk as quickly as possible to and through store or work or wherever it is you are going.
Hold in your Abs (stomach) back straight as you walk - you would be surprised how it works out the abs.
Squats - Free
Lunge - Free - gets the metabolism moving and keeps it moving 2-3 hours after this exercise
jog lunge - free and same effect
Walking different places - I like to go to Seattle to Walk or Pt. Defiance
I love to walk the boardwalk (rather the actual boardwalk, we will walk the rocky beach if possible...more of a work out.
Walk under the boardwalk as you get 3/4 way you have to crouch down walk rest of way...gives you even more of a workout
Pullups using the car steering wheel
crunches in the car
dance as you walk down the street (put headset on)
Pick a hill (1 block) and sike yourself out to jog up it...say you can do it! I can do it!
Crunches in bed
Wall Pushups - in the bathroom, in the public restroom, in the office
sitting in a chair, stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down - these are considered squats (not as deep, but still a workout)
Arm Rolls in Bed
Facercises
Crunch/Ab exercise using chair
standing abductions

Ok, see there is so much and mix it up, keep it fun! I'm getting over my shyness of exercising in public...why...people give me thumbs up, sure I get weird looks, but hey some of the folks giving me weird looks, they could use some exercise. A lot of people, are like, wow, that is so cool, or say I wish I was that brave to do because I sure need it. It has nothing to do with being brave, it is a necessity to getting healthy. See it is your health. I CAN DO IT! YOU CAN DO IT! WE CAN DO IT!

What an awesome list - shows how much of anything is "want to" instead of excuses!!

I'm going to copy and print this blog - the list of exercises alone is priceless!!
