Happy Anniversary!

Friday, June 13, 2008

It's been 10 years already - my how the time has flown! I wanted to have lost all the weight by now - but that hasn't happened. I am close, though, and it WILL be done by the time I return to school on August 1.

So, since today is our anniversary, I didn't track. Why bother? We started out with breakfast at the Original Pancake House, for cryin' out loud, our old stompin' grounds. I did change my habits though. For starters -
1. we always split an omelet. No, I didn't do egg-whites - I opted for the regular deal - but I didn't finish my half of the omelet!
2. We always split a side of bacon - the really nice, thick stuff. I usually eat 1/2 (2 slices) - today I only ate 1 slice.
3. We always get the side of pancakes that come with the order. Today I substituted whole wheat toast. Probably still not 100% clean, but way cleanER than the pancakes!

As for the rest of the day, I did okay. Pretty normal, for a matter of fact. And for dinner, while the rest of the family ate ground turkey tacos in the typical taco shell, I crisped up 2 small corn tortillas in a cast iron skillet and put the fixin's on those instead. That's less than 1 gram of fat to the 6 grams I would have eaten had I had the taco shells.

I am different. I am making better choices. I am growing. I'm not there yet - but I'm moving.

PS - I did have a SMALL margarita and will probably have a SMALL bowl of ice cream... it IS our anniversary for crying out loud.
