Wow! I can't believe that it has been 3 weeks since I have blogged. I have been sooo busy. I am really excited as I am teaching summer school for the month of June. What is exciting about it is that I am teaching Health to 7ith and 8th graders with an emphasis on exercise. I have 2 classes a day that are each about 3 hours long. We have been going outside and walking 30 minutes doing a 1 1/2 mile loop around campus. I have also brought in an old exercise bike and rowing machine and the kids can use those as they complete their assignments if they wish. They are really getting into it and I find that a big accomplishment. I have them keeping a log of their exercise minutes each day also. It has been so much fun. One boy, after telling me that he didn't think he would be able to walk because he has a high BMI is walking and keeping up each day. He rides the stationary bike at least 10 minutes as well, and now he has told me that his goal for the summer is to lose weight. It feels so heart warming to think that I may be making a positive change in these kid's lives. I only hope that they will keep up with the exercise after summer school is over. Teaching is also keeping me focused on my fitness goals. I automatically walk 3 miles with the kids each day and I have been trying to log in at least 65 miles weekly on my road bike. My weight loss has slowed to about a pound a week--but that's okay. I am getting thinner and am into size 14's for the first time in MANY years. I am almost at my pre pregnancy weight from my first daughter which was 27 years ago--That is a major accomplishment for me. I am loving my new lifestyle and am still focused on getting down to my college weight. It may be a long journey but it will be well worth it--Oh yeah--my Blood pressure has been averaging 117/62--without meds!!! Can you tell--I am just so hyped up. Thanks to all who have helped me stay focused on this journey!!
