Replacing Goals

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

I'm not sure how so many people with serious debilitating conditions are able to maintain positive outlooks. In the scheme of things, this back problem is more of an inconvenience than anything else. For now, it means I can't exercise in the way I would like, I can't sleep in a bed, and I have to let go of my plans to complete a triathlon sprint this year.
Really, how bad is that compared to people with MS, cancer, and others of the many awful bad things that happen to people through no fault of their own?
Luckily, I have SparkPeople habits like goal setting and evaluating to fall back on. So, what does this mean now? It's time to take realistic look at what I'm allowed to do and set goals that are consistent with capabilities.

Yeah, there's something about shutting a door and opening a window---- we have to take what we can get.
I have pretty bad arthritis, and there are times I can't move. I gotta do what I can do, and try to keep on track the best way I can. I know pain really is horrible- and I know that pain is how I first gained my weight- so I am holding you in the light, and trying to hope you find what works for you.
Keep on truckin!
