"Life is not a 'brief candle.' It is a splendid torch that must be made to burn as brightly as possible before it is handed on to the next generation."

-George Bernard Shaw

This was yesterday's (4/28) healthy reflection. I read it and thought YES!

It is like that email circulating - "I want to end my life skidding in to home plate, champagne in one hand and chocolate in the other, saying 'Woohoo, what a ride!'"

There is no point in NOT living a life well lived. There is no point in not using up knees and hips, wearing out muscles and joints, using up all available memory with wonderful experiences and adventures. There is no reason to live a pristine existence worrying about what might come next, rather than living in the NOW as fully as possible.

At the same time, we must live in a way that makes the world better for our having been here, for our having lived.

Burn a bright torch with your life! Make an impact on those around you! Live fully, live well, and know that you will live on in your good works and in others' memories!!!!

Phebe is definitely a candle to those of us who are privileged enough to have been in contact with her. She has been a beacon in the darkness, a candle lighting our way to self improvement in *so many more* areas than weight loss!

Thank you so much for being here, and all the great things you post and encourage us all to do for ourselves and others!
