Things aren't so easy sometimes

In Mumbai, where I live, summer is setting in, and how! At the gym today, with the air-conditioners in full blast, members, including yours truly, were all sweating and sighing as the heat outside threatened to derail our motivation and goals.

I huffed and I puffed, and eventually managed to put in 9 exercises, with 2 sets of each (15 reps), before calling it quits. My hand towel was completely drenched and my 500 ml. bottle had got over some minutes ago! The bath after the exercise did not refresh much; it merely served to get rivers of sweat out of my face and body. Who needs steam in such conditions? (Our humidity is above 65% anyway, and touches almost 100 % in the rainy season (monsoon).

With such profuse sweating, one should have thought that one could lose weight easily, the appetite having fallen as well, but - things aren't that easy, you know. I have fight left in me, and by God, I am not going to give up as yet.

    Hang in there and trust the process.

Try a cool, invigorating shower instead of a hot, steamy one. It'll get you just as clean, and maybe leave you feeling refreshed instead of wrung out and sleepy.

I don't have to tell you how your body and metabolism work. You know it better than I do. All that sweating and sighing results in water loss. (We only WISH that sweat were melted fat, dripping off us like candle wax!) Are you counting all the calories in and out? That will do more for weight loss than anything else. The exercise will build strength and endurance and help regulate your appetite (sounds like you and I have that in common - exercise suppresses my appetite, rather than stimulating it).

Try smaller, more frequent meals - but over all, count the total daily intake and no cheating! Avoid those pharmaceutical reps, unless they're taking you out to play golf - not to eat and drink! ;)

    (i know what you mean, i'm really, really slow at weight loss. i somehow managed to lose 10 pounds in 1 year.

if we keep at this - eventually we are bound to lose some weight, right? or at the very least - get healthier!)
