The longest plateau ever

I am not seeing any losses on the scale, and haven't for a looooong time. Over a month now. It's a little frustrating, and I'm trying to figure out what I can do to move things along. I think that for about 3 weeks I wasn't eating enough calories, so I have increased my food intake. After a week of that, still no loss, only hovering.

I am thinking that I should get a heartrate monitor that calculates calorie burn, so I can get a better fix on how much I actually burn while I'm walking and riding. Maybe I am overestimating or underestimating, and need to compensate for that. Too bad they are so expensive though. I already have a heart monitor but it is a very basic one that does not compute calories.

The second thing I'm going to do is get SERIOUS about strength training. Why is it that I find excuse after excuse not to do it???? This has been a lon-standing problem as I look back over my SP journal. And yet, I used to love weight training. Last week I bought resistance tube equipment, and have started using it. I also want to do yoga maybe twice a week, I just have to find a class that is nearby and at a convenient time for me. Yoga will help my hip problem and make riding more comfortable for me, too.

The actual number on the scale is not such a big deal, but having clothes that fit and look nice on me is. Right now my tummy is way too fat and flabby. If the fat is not going to go away, then I need to tone the muscles underneath to get the fat to lie flatter. Right?!! Right!!

I feel like I'm in the same boat. I went to the calorie calculator you shared on a message board and I think I'm going to adjust my intake according to that info. I hope that will work. My clothes do feel better but I'm still frustrated with the scale. I try to strength train two days a week and get back in the gym for just cardio on two other days. It's hard with a busy work and family schedule but changing my calorie range is worth a try. Thanks for the website suggestion and good luck to you. Tracy
