Today I want to motivate myself to stop eating the junk and eat healthy. I can use all the help and motivation I can get. I know once I get started and commit myself 100% to this journey I will get there. I am just having a hard time getting started and staying motivated. I am easily swayed and tempted by food. I know that I need to exercise - we have a Bow Flex buried in our garage we just need to free it up and USE it. Do you have any tips or words of wisdom that would help me on this very long journey are appreciated.

Susan I am at the same place as you right now. I have to get motivated again. Lets find a way to do this together. I sent my email and will give you my phone number too if you want some one to talk to just let me know. I know I can lose weight I just need to recommit to this and with your help maybe the two of us can do this a little easier.

YOU CAN DO IT! Positive thinking is KEY. As well as making incredibly little changes and building up. It works best. You can do this!

TO STAY MOTIVATED IS SOMETIMES HARDER THAN OTHER TIMES. I DO TRY AND TAKE IT ONE DAY AT A TIME SO I DON'T GET MYSELF FRUSTRATED. I ALSO TRY AND GET RIGHT BACK ON TRACK IF I HAVE A BAD DAY. I FIND IF I PUT IT OFF UNTIL MON,OR NEXT WEEK OR ANY EXCUSES WE MAKE MAKES ME BINGE BECAUSE I SAY OH WELL I AM GOING TO START OVER.
I FIND WHEN I AM REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT BEING O.P. I FIND THAT I HAVE TO PRE PLAN MY MEALS AT LEAST FOR A FEW DAYS IN ADVANCE. I SHOP FOR THE FOODS I NEED ADD PLENTY OF FRESH VEGGIES FOR SALADS AND FRUIT. I TRY NOT TO BUY THE SNACK/JUNK FOODS THAT ARE MY DOWNFALL. I DO BUT THE 100 CALORIE SNACKS OR W.W. ICE CREAM TREATS.
SET SHORT TERM GOALS SO YOU SEE PROGRESS. SOMETIMES EATONG 5-6 SMALLER MEALS CAN HELP. I THINK YOU TRY DIFFERENT THINGS UNTIL YOU GET WHAT WORKS FOR YU.

What really worked for me was making small changes over time. I started planning to eat 2 servings of fruits & veggies per day and to exercise once per week.
I did it small at first, planning to up the commitment after 4 weeks at each level, but once I really got going, I found myself increasing and getting to the top goals pretty fast.
And remember that **any exercise/movement** more than you are doing now is better than no increase at all.
Start with little things like the strength exercises you can find here on spark... or put on your headphones and go for a 10 minute walk as fast as you comfortably can.
We have a non-buried treadmill in our basement, but I didn't get on it for weeks. However I was taking a quick walk at lunchtime at work.
I also got Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds video with 1, 2 & 3 mile workouts and water-fillable weights. These really started getting me motivated. She is non-threatening and friendly and you don't have to be a dance major to do the workout.
And with the food, you can split your regular snack foods into baggies or small containers. Keeping track of what you are eating should help.
Also try to make conscious choices about eating those fruits and veggies first might help. Put some apples where the snack crackers usually go... that sort of thing.
You can do this!!
I was lazy, selfish, and most of all, a sensualist, and I really never thought I'd be able to do it. But my mind has really changed as I have changed my choices.
I used to be able to easily eat a whole bag of cookies, etc.
Again, YOU CAN DO THIS!
