Dr. OZ 2 week Challenges

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Oprah and Dr. Oz have this segment on the Oprah show in which they challenge the viewers with a 2 week challenge of something that will help improve the viewer's health.

Apparently several weeks ago, the 2 week challenge was to give up drinking soda pop to see how your health changes. Many viewers wrote in and lost weight over the 2 weeks, some as much as 10 pounds and most said they generally felt better overall, especially as it related to mental clarity and bloating.

The most recent 2 week challenge is to eat 1 slice of 100% WHOLE GRAIN bread with Extra Virgin Olive Oil drizzled on the bread about 5 minutes before dinner. Dr. Oz stated that most Americans do the most damage at dinner time and with late night eating. Eating the 100% whole grain bread with the EVO oil will keep you fuller and satisfied longer with the fiber and good fat and will work towards reducing one's risk of cardiovascular disease.

So, I'm going to do both challenges starting today since not drinking pop, in particular Coca Cola, is one of my vices.

Starting today, no more pop and I will eat one slice of 100% whole grain bread with EVO oil before my dinner ... I may even convince my husband to do these challenges with me.

Those are some great suggestions! I had my first diet pop today since probably March and it tasted terrible! haha. Have a great weekend, friend!!!

Great ideas. Good luck! I know cutting out Coke will definitely help - the amount of calories and sugar in it is crazy! There are a ton of flavor packets for water bottles now which could help when you need a change from regular water. Or carbonated flavored water maybe if you need that fizzy fix. Depending on how much you used to drink Coke, you might get a caffeine headache, but it goes away after a day or two, so don't give in! You can do it!!! emoticon

Interesting - I might have to try the bread thing. I have already cut my pop intake way down (still have it as a special treat when I go out)
