First blog

I am writing this blog because I am inspired by all the wonderfully successful Spark People members who share their experiences with others. If I talk about my frustrations and goals, maybe my successes will be reality, too!
When I began this quest I had a very successful first 2 weeks. I lost 5 pounds and fit better in my clothes. One of my favorite triathletes at the gym told me I was "looking so strong and fit!" Then I switched to a Tanika scale to get a better idea of my progression towards more muscle, less fat. It told me I weighed 5 pounds more than I thought (which intellectually I know is only a scale difference, not a body difference.) It still was an emotional blow. So I spent the next few days completely blowing off my program, and overeating mindlessly. Now my lovely new scale says I weigh 127 with body fat 23.8%! Ughhh!
With the help of all you inspiring fitness friends, I will be back on track without delay. New goal: 118 and body fat less 21% or less by May 15. Huge (20th) anniversary trip begins May 24 so I want to be physically ready (which puts my mind in a better frame.)
Thank you Spark People for giving me this outlet to vent and make myself responsible for my actions! I can do it!

What super efforts you are making!

Be careful not to give so much power to the scale to make or break your mood. I'm hoping that you'll be growing more confidence in yourself over time so that you will be feeling terrific, regardless of the scale as you'll know that you've been doing your part to live a healthy and well lifestyle!

Stick with the Spark and we ALL will reach our health and wellness goals!
