I've discovered a new mind trick. Those little things that fool us into thinking:
... I'm not hungry
... I can go further
... I can pick up the pace
Yesterday, I had to hop off my stationary bike 30 minutes into a 40-minute workout. My bike HAS a pause button, but either I don't know how to use it or it's not working, because when you get off the bike, the display disappears, and you have to start from scratch when you get back. So, knowing this, I stopped at exactly 30 minutes, noted my stats (calories burned, distance, etc.) hopped off, ran to get my water, came back, and set the bike for that last 10 minutes.
Well, guess what? Those last ten minutes were SOOoooooo much easier when I was counting from zero to 10 on the display than when I was counting from 30 to 40.
Just a mental trick, a mind-game, but I'll take every one of those I can get! Since I've added extra cardio to my days for the next 12-weeks (an SP challenge) this will help me tuck those miles under my belt. Try it and see if it kick-starts your brain!
