Broke the 10 lb. mark!!

Sunday, March 09, 2008

Woo, hoo! I weighed in yesterday and I am down 10 lbs! I will be a 2 month member of SP in a few days (March 12th) and that's about 5 lbs a month. That's pretty good...not too fast or too slow. I am feeling great, too. More energy and I don't even want to eat unhealthy anymore. I'm driving everybody crazy because I plan my meals all the time. I haven't missed entering food in my nutrition tracker once in 2 months. I think that has really helped me out the most! I'm still lagging in the exercise department. I just don't feel the motivation there yet, but I am looking around for a dance exercise class that will help fill that void for me. My goal is to get to the point where I want to WANT to exercise, not feel that it is a chore that I do not look forward to. I admire people who love to exercise! I'm still only walking a bit, but have not started any type of official exercise program. That will hopefully come soon, because I do need to tone up. I have 6 lbs to go to reach my SP goal of 142. I don't know what criteria SP uses to choose goal weights, but I think that will be a good weight for me. Maybe 140 just to give me some wiggle room! Thanks to everyone for all the support and encouragement! I have really enjoyed the ride to my destination so far!

Congrats! I hate exercising as well. I am so jealous of people who really enjoy it. I've found that the elliptical machine is at least tolerable to me and that it helps to spend about 10 minutes on the treadmill/elliptical/bike so that I don't get too bored.

10 lbs!!! You go girl! So, have you found the magic exercise yet that does not feel like exercise? The dance class? I have some dvd's from college video that are pretty good. It is not as fun as a group though. Keep up the great work!!!

Yay, congrats! I see you like dance exercise: why don't you try bodyjam? Check out lesmills.com for info and locations...I'm not much of a dancer, but I tried it myself and although I keep moving to the right when everybody's moving to the left and vice versa, it's SOOO much fun!

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's friend (in your first blog). We had kind of the same situation in our family a few years ago (a friend of my brother's was killed in a head on collision, she was only 16 years old). Everyone from school went to her funeral and although I didn't know her that well, I was totally wrecked. I understand this has a great influence on your family. Unfortunately, these things happen in life and what I've learned from it is that it could all be over in a split second and I should enjoy every day that I'm given with my loved ones. My thoughts are with you and your family!

Em I think that is great. I am shopping around for a good exercise routine too. I don't live close enough to town to join groups so I want to feel like the video I use is playing not working. I hope you find what you are looking for. I bought a camera to motivate me in the exercise dept. I want to look great for my monthly pictures. Cheers to you for your progress. C-U O

Congratulations on your weight loss. The additional motivation to exercise will come with time. I think that you just have to keep trying new exercises/classes and will finally find one that sticks and gets you excited to exercise.

For me, it is my Pilates classes and soccer games. I love the competition of soccer, the relaxation of Pilates, and I can definitely see my improvement over time with both activities. I think that improvement is the key part of my motivation, I'm still striving to be better. I love my Pilates class so much that I was even contemplating giving up free box seat NHL tickets and transportation to the game for my class. Then I remembered that my class was cancelled for the day of the game.

Congrats on your weight loss. Baby steps is my motto, it took years to put on the weight it will take time to get it off and slow means it will stay off. Happy Easter..

I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE SEEN GOOD RESULTS. I STILL HAVE ABOUT 25 POUNDS TO GO. MY GOAL WEIGHT IS 140 BUT I PROBABLY CAN BE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 140 AND 130. BUT JUST WANTED TO STOP BY AND SAY HI AND SEE HOW YOU WERE DOING. I ADDED YOU AS A FRIEND SINCE WE HAVE SO MUCH IN COMMON. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Congrats!! WTG!!! The motivation for exercise will come as you continue to feel better and have more energy. I have started Belly Dancing and just love it!! It is awesome overall exercise and makes you feel good about yourself. There are also other types of dance classes that might help motivate you. Maybe you could do it with your girls.

I can't believe how dedicated you've been with your nutrition tracker, that is so great!! I log pretty closely, but I miss a meal here and there. If you think you have energy now, you should really get into exercising, that's where I get my energy from. I have found that you might have to try a bunch of different types of exercise before you find what is right for you. I know I HATE the eliptical machine, but I love spin class. Once you find something you enjoy, you'll want to do it all the time! Remember that it takes time to build a habit, so don't give up, give yourself a good 2-3 weeks to get into an exercise routine. Let me know if you need any suggestions!

Weigh to go girl!!! You're really doing well. We all are learning to take it one step at a time and that this approach will really work. Keep it up. See you around the campfire. Gisela

Congrats on the milestone. I admire that you are so diligent in tracking your food. I am making conscious choices about my food but I have not been tracking. I did once at the beginning and it was an eye opener.

Good luck in searching for an exercise program that works for you. I like doing DVD's--I know that it is boring to most but it keeps me honest. I push myself to keep the pace. I am concerned that I wouldn't really work as hard on my own. I think a class is a good choice--would work the same way.
Congrats again, Nancy
