I Think I am...

Saturday, March 08, 2008

going back to school and finish my LPN. I went and almost finished but I stopped because I kept getting in trouble for talking to the patients too much. They said that I was there to pass meds... not talk to them. I didnt like the fact that I was constintly getting in trouble.. so I left. Yet, now I am at a place in my life where I need to finish what I started.. So, I think I am going back.
I am a little nervous though. I know that I am smart enough because I did it before, but I just get anxious thinking about it. I am going to make sure that I go see my doctor before going back to talk to him about my worries and stuff..lol..
It is going to be interesting.

I agree! Don't let your worries hold you back. Fear is False Expectations Appearing Real! They are false after all! I get in trouble all the time for talking too much to my patients!! LOL!
I did learn to work and talk at the same time!AND I always get a 100% Satisfaction from the Pt. Surveys! Sometimes you have to "jump the hoops" and get through clinicals and when you graduate you can "Just be YOU!"

Alisa I think that is a wonderful idea! You would think that talking to patients and being compassionate would ummm...I don't know...a good thing!?!?!?! Ah the joys of the health care system. You are so sweet and caring that LPN seems like a great fit for you! I started college at age 25 with a small child and I was scared beyond definition but you know what? It was a life changing & amazingly positive experience. Don't let your anxiety hold you back...try to turn it into the energy that gets you through your studies. Sounds like new age advice I know but I did it and I am proof it works. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from a great college...not bad for someone who went to her car to cry between classes almost every day in her 1st semester huh????? You can do it! :)

Good luck to you! Going back to school is anxiety-producing, but I think the rewards are well worth it. You can finish this time, I know you can! cj

Congrats on considering going back to school- it might be hard, but I bet that it will make a great change in your life. I went back to school when my son was two, and though it was a rough couple years of working/doing school/being a mom, it was so worth it in the end. Now I have a job that I actually enjoy going to, and that's a very valuable thing.
